The Colchagua Vineyard Association holds a big feast to celebrate their wines made from Carménère grapes

This is the first time that the Colchagua Vineyard Association will host the “Carménère Feast”.  The event is to be held at Club de la Unión in Santiago on November 24th starting at 9pm.   As this date is also the “Carménère Week” there will be special promotions taking place at several restaurants.

Between November 15-25, several restaurants in Santiago and Colchagua will celebrate the “Carménère Week” in order to promote this grape variety grown in 17 vineyards from the Colchagua Valley.   Each winery selected one of their Carménère wines to promote during this week in restaurants such as Rayuela, De Patio, Montañes, Ana María, La Mar, La Famiglia de Santis, Quitral, Juan y Medio, El Apero, Casa Colchagua, Issei, Le Flaubert among others.  Upon selecting a Carménère wine,  each client will receive a second bottle to take home.

Claudio Naranjo, president of the  Board of Directors of the Colchagua Vineyards, explained “We will hold a big celebration to honor this emblematic Chilean variety which shines even brighter in the Colchagua Valley which runs from the Pacific Ocean to the Andes Mountains and from where we obtain a vast assortment of grape varieties and wines. We will initiate activities with promotions at several restaurants and we will end the celebrations with the Carménère Feast where our visitors will be able to enjoy a big assortment of still and sparkling wines, a cocktail and the live band Metrópoli. At this celebration each Colchagua Vineyard  Association member will be participating with a still or sparkling wine made from Carménère which will be offered , along with other alcoholic beverages, to all the participants.

Regarding the Colchagua Vineyards

Viñas de Colchagua is the first regional association of Viñas de Chile  which was created in 1999, with the idea of promoting wines and enhancing the importance of the Colchagua Denomination of Origin.    Its mission is to boost, promote and protect the development of entrepreneur activity of all its members who  have the common objective of producing fine wines with the Colchagua Denomination of Origin.
