Silver Medal
Apaltagua Chardonnay Reserva Unoaked, 2011
88 points
Green-tinged yellow. Fresh melon and pear aromas are complemented by honey and orange zest nuances. Juicy and light on its feet, offering pliant honeydew and candied citrus flavors sharpened by a touch of white pepper. Finishes with good clarity and cut, leaving citrus and spice notes behind.
Apaltagua Malbec Reserva 2010
87 points
Saturated ruby. Rich dark fruit compote and bitter chocolate on the nose and palate; a vanilla nuance builds with air. On the oaky side but also deeply fruity, even jammy, showing a smooth texture and a clinging finish. This young wine will be better if its lumber integrates with a little bottle age.
